Villanovafranca, Nuragic fortress ‘Su Mulinu’

The Nuragic complex lays at a short distance from the inhabited centre and has been recently made available to visitors. Built in sandstone and limestone blocks, the fortress of ‘Su Mulinu’ is composed by a trilobate keep surrounded by a towered rampart, whose curtains are provided with loop-holes. Inside the structure is an oblong room covered by an ogee vault, a rectangular room covered with platband and corridors and stairs connecting the various spaces among them. The nuraghe is an evidence of the evolution of Nuragic peoples’ building techniques throughout the centuries.
