The origin of the shrine dates back to the 9th- 8th century B.C. It is one of the sites witnessing the cult of waters in Sardinia. The archaeological area, one of the few ones in the Island to be inside a village, consists of four sacred wells. Among them, the sacred well of Sant’Anastasia, unearthed at the beginning of 1900 at the heart of the Nuragic complex, dates back to 1200 B.C. It was built in dark basalt and white limestone. The site also hosts the Byzantine church of Sant’Anastasia, including a Nuragic sacred well, a baptismal font of 1500 and a wooden Christ of 1600.
