Nuraghi of Pabillonis

Nuraxi Fenu

Outside the inhabited centre, the Nuraghe of San Lussorio owes its name to its proximity with an ancient small church dedicated to the Saint. It is a complex construction, presenting a polylobate keep and a few towers of the rampart with curtain walls. Along the way rises the Nuraxi Fenu. Excavation works unearthed Roman ceramic potsherds and a coin datable to the 3rd C. A.D., that suggested a sporadic occupation of the site between the 2nd and the 3rd century A.D. A violent fire marked the end of the Nuragic settlement, even though it was occasionally frequented in the Punic and Roman period as well.
