Among granitic mountains and sandy dunes

Aerial view of Piscinas and Mount Arcuentu on the backdrop

  • Locality: Perd’e Pibera, Sibiri (Gonnosfanadiga) - Piscinas, Scivu, Capo Pecora (Arbus)
  • Route type: by car
  • Point of departure: Gonnosfanadiga

The varied territory of Gonnosfanàdiga invites to rest among its green spaces, such as the noteworthy municipal park of Perd ’e Pibera, characterized by a thick ilex grove offering shady places as well as refreshment points for visitors.
The centre of Sibiri has got another remarkable naturalistic area, showing interesting shapes sculpted into granitic rocks, among far-reaching areas covered with cork oaks, ilexes and Mediterranean maquis.

The seaside can be reached by car. Among the most beautiful beaches of the coastline, Piscinas is a gem of southern Sardinia; Scivu, with its fine sand, is dominated by sandy banks stretching next to rocky headlands, representing one of the most spectacular tracts of the island. Worldwide known, Piscinas and Scivu make part of the homonymous dunal system, considered as an European ‘coastal desert’, hosting a faunal biodiversity at risk of extinction and a typical Mediterranean vegetation.
At a considerable distance, the headland of Capo Pecora marks the boundary between the Province of Middle Campidano and that of Carbonia-Iglesias.
