The Museum was opened in 1994 inside the 16th-century house of Dona Maxima (the last heiress of the Orrù household). It gathers the memories of past traditions, usages and customs in San Gavino. The Museum is specifically aimed at keeping alive the memory of ancient arts and crafts; its thematic spaces are dedicated to the exhibition of archaeological finds unearthed in the area and to the history of ancient trades, presented through old tools and equipment; it also includes a section on industrial history, related to the establishment of the local foundry.
